Yatsuhashi Kyo Sukashi

Gorgeour and famous Yatsuhashi Kyo sukashi tsuba! Made in Momoyama to early Edo. The eight sections of the bridge (yatsuhashi) crossing in front of iris blooms growing in the water recall a scene in Mikawa (Nothern part of current Aichi Prefecture) that plays a part in the Ise Monogatari. The selection of this kind of subject matter is typical of the design approach of Kyo sukashi craftsman. The straight bridge lines with the curve of iris succeeds to produce a perfect harmony. 72mm diameter, 5mm thickness.
