Horikawa Jiuemon Kunitake was born in 1897 and worked as a Rikugun Jumei Tosho during WWII. He founded Akita Prefecture Danrensho and worked as the first president. He was regarded as the best Showa smith worked in Akita with Shibata Ka. This sword has beautiful midare-ba with lots of ashi and yo. Jihada is Masame with Ko-itame and in excellent condition without flaw and free of nick. Accompanies the NBTHK Hozon Paper. Horikawa Kunitake's blade is very hard to find.
